How a Cannabis Plant Becomes The Clear

The Clear makes the purest cannabis concentrate on the planet. So, we’re explaining: how a cannabis plant becomes The Clear. To get from plant to purified concentrate takes a number of pivotal steps and a lot industry-leading technology.

At The Clear™, we take the extra time and go further to ensure the cleanest concentrate, free from plant-matter byproducts and other residuals. We purchase top-of-the-line equipment and modify it to be even better. Investing in research, we make sure the final product emerging from the extraction and distillation process is as pure as scientifically possible.

Step 1: Start With the Best Plants

Many companies start with leftover plant material. However, only the highest-quality plants go into our exclusive machines to become The Clear. Put simply, we don’t use material that doesn’t meet our standards. It’s an expensive choice, but our product is worth it, and our customers understand that.

Step 2: Extraction

In many states we use a CO2 extraction process and a proprietary distillation process. Thus, separating important cannabinoids from the flower we are starting with. No hydrocarbon solvents and no harmful chemicals are involved. This is the first step in how a cannabis plant becomes The Clear.

Many concentrate makers consider the process complete once the solvents are removed. At this point, they package their BHO and send it to the dispensary.

This is only the beginning of the process for The Clear.

Step 3: Chill and Purify

First we “winterize” the mixture. This freezes the plant-based fats out of the solution. The liquid we use to super-chill the extract is a natural, corn-derived ethanol. In this separation process, we use different temperatures and vacuum pressure to separate out the plant compounds—a.k.a. cannabinoids like THC—that we want to keep and get rid of the ones we don’t. If the resulting product is anything less than 85 percent THC, we run it through the process again, to obtain the purest product possible.

Step 4: Filter

Then we use a proprietary filter press that ultra-refines the oil. At this point, you could drink the resulting cannabis oil and it would not get you high. Just like you have to apply flame to a bowl of cannabis flower or heat to cannabutter to trigger its intoxicating properties, we have to add heat to “activate” the naturally occuring acid form of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC-A) to convert it to THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis. Decarboxylation is the process. It happens at precise temperatures to ensure the cannabinoids don’t degrade.

Step 5: Evaporate Again

We use another piece of proprietary equipment, an evaporator machine, to remove any remaining plant material and undesirable compounds. From this machine, we obtain incredibly pure and potent THC distillate. We create our own machinery for this step that is specially built for cannabis and hemp.

Step 6: Achieve Maximum Purity,

Where other manufacturers stop, The Clear™ takes one last special step that puts it ahead of everyone else. We put the first round of distillate into our house-designed and manufactured “still,” which takes the cannabis extract and makes it The Clear™.

And That’s How a Cannabis Plant Becomes The Clear

There’s a reason we call our product The Clear™: It’s the cleanest, clearest oil out there. We guarantee it’s at the very least 85 percent THC, but it is often even purer.

We’ve patented the processes and equipment that we’ve developed to make the world’s purest extracts. But we’re still not satisfied: We’ll keep innovating and fine-tuning our refining techniques, using the latest technology to make the Clear™ better all the time, and to bring new products to the market.

Green and Clean from Seed to Concentrate

Green and Clean from Seed to Concentrate

With regard to responsible, green, clean cultivation practices, The Clear sets industry standards for CBD and THC concentrate.

The difference between The Clear concentrate and other products is that most other manufacturers use leftover plant material instead of flower. The flower is where most of the cannabinoids and terpenes are located. Many of our competitors’ main source of revenue is selling flower. Thus, they use only trim or shake that doesn’t make the cut for the dispensary sales floor. Accordingly, this includes plants with mold or spider mites. Microbial contamination will not show up in testing after the affected plants are processed.

Subsequently, the motto they use is, “Just blast it,” as they put poor-quality plant bits into cheap equipment.

We agree: Ewww.

The Clear Concentrate Difference

Plants grown for The Clear are of the highest possible quality. We use premium flower for our oils, because concentrate is all we do.

That standard for excellence starts with the soil we grow our plants in. We don’t use nitrates or synthetic pesticides. These leave a nasty taste that lingers in concentrate. Coincidentally, they have been connected to causing illness in consuming patients.

All of our hemp-derived CBD concentrate starts with plants grown by local Colorado farmers with industrial hemp certifications.

For our THC concentrate sold in Colorado, our sister company Bonsai Cultivation ensures plants meet their full potential. Bonsai Cultivation has won dozens of industry awards. So far, they’ve won the High Times Cannabis Cups and THC Championships multiple times.

Bonsai is Making Green, Clean

Our Colorado grow partner shares our belief that all segments of the cannabis industry need to be conscientious about our ecological impact. Moreover, there is consideration for what we put in the ground and water, for our energy consumption, and water use.

Bonsai’s state-of-the-art cannabis cultivation facility incorporates the latest in ecologically friendly techniques. Therefore, there is top-level technology for irrigation and automated plant feeding. The cultivation team reclaims and reuses 1,000 gallons of reverse-osmosis water produced each cycle by facility dehumidifiers. Working to reduce waste, they are composting everything from soil to stems to fan leaves.

The Bonsai team focuses on being as energy efficient as possible. Stepping down their power consumption for all lighting and mechanical equipment is part of this. Their energy-efficient HVAC system uses water chillers that reduce their energy consumption by 33 percent. They have created a special layout for their double-ended lighting system that reduced their facility’s lighting needs by 400 fixtures.

That system and techniques of managing their plant canopy are robust. With specially designed trellising, they can produce the same yield with 40 percent less energy consumption. They rotate the flower cycles in each room, to only use 50 percent of their cooling capacity at any time. They also manage peak demand for energy use by offsetting times for power needs.

Bonsai is as green as they can be. They set the standard for our THC cultivation partners in other states.

From Seed to Concentrate

The old saying “garbage in, garbage out” definitely applies to concentrates. After proper curing, we put only the cleanest plant material into our proprietary extraction equipment. And it shows.

The Clear™ concentrates smell, taste and test better. They also have incredible purity and potency. There is a difference, and our satisfied, loyal customers recognize it.
